As a member of the Nurse Psychotherapist Association, I strive to practice safely, effectively, and ethically to uphold the following standards, guideline as per my Nursing Association and the code of ethics as per the Nurse Psychotherapist Association.
Professional Responsibility
Certified Nurse Psychotherapist-CNP/Certified Psychotherapist Nurse-CPN’s are expected to conduct themselves with professionalism, integrity, and ethical care in each aspect of their work with clients, client’s families, colleagues, communities, and to the public. These responsibilities include; engaging in appropriate, contextualized, professional development and self-care to maintain optimum capacity.
Professionalism in Advertising
Certified Nurse Psychotherapists /Certified Psychotherapist Nurses, when advertising and representing themselves publicly, do so in a manner that accurately and clearly informs the public of their services and areas of expertise. Certified Nurse Psychotherapists/Certified Psychotherapist Nurses, belonging to a statutory regulatory college, additionally adheres to specific advertisement requirements as mandated by statute and/or the Regulatory body for the College of Nurses.
Dignity of All Persons
Certified Nurse Psychotherapists/Certified Psychotherapist Nurses respect the privacy, rights, and diversity of all persons to reject all forms of harassment and abuse and to maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries at all times during interactions.
Professional Practice
Certified Nurse Psychotherapists/Certified Psychotherapist Nurses work in the best interests of clients to work within skills and competencies, maintain malpractice insurance, awareness of best practices, and to pursue professional and personal growth throughout their careers.
Professional Integrity
Certified Nurse Psychotherapists/Certified Psychotherapist Nurses openly inform clients about options, limitations on professional services, and potential risks and benefits to recognize and strive to challenge professional and personal biases, and to consult when needed on ethical dilemmas.
Fairness
Certified Nurse Psychotherapists/Certified Psychotherapist Nurses strive to support justice and fairness in professional and personal dealings, and stand against oppression and discrimination.
Responsible Citizenship
Certified Nurse Psychotherapists /Certified Psychotherapist Nurses representing themselves participate within their community as a responsible citizen, always mindful of their role as a trusted professional, and to consult on potential conflicts-of-interest along with other personal-professional challenges that may be encountered in practice.

It is my duty as a Certified Nurse Psychotherapist-CNP/Certified Psychotherapist Nurse-CPN to uphold and adhere to these standards and guidelines within my practice and to utilize and demonstrate these skills obtained in accordance with the Nurse Psychotherapist Association when working with each of my clients.
