The RN Psychotherapy Certification program is open to any nurse working in any settings who is interested in learning the skills, knowledge and judgement required to provide psychotherapy treatment safely. Psychotherapy is a controlled act that a nurse can initiate independently. This course equips the RN Psychotherapist to practice psychotherapy safely. Course is offered online with flexible schedules. CBT is one of today’s most respected evidenced based psychotherapy disciplines. It is primarily used to help people understand their thoughts and feelings that influence habits, actions and behaviors. The goal of the RN Psychotherapy certification program is to teach nurses the skills and application in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and to familiarize nurses with the overall process of providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Who is this course is for:
- Nurses who would like to become more competent providing CBT to clients in a hospital, private practice or in any mental health community setting
- Nurses or Mental health professionals who have some mental health knowledge and experience, and are considering enhancing their knowledge and skill in CBT therapy and making a career change to become a RN Psychotherapist or Nurse Psychotherapist
- Any nurse wishing to embark in employment (or self-employment) that involves helping people providing CBT as a nurse psychotherapist or RN Psychotherapist.
- Anyone wishing to develop a good understanding of psychotherapy CBT techniques which requires a flexible approach to learning, where you can study online at your own pace, in your own time and in any location.
Course duration is 9 months, 570 hours online theory, plus 400 hours to complete your case studies sessions. Course includes: providing direct client care, case studies, providing individual treatment, and facilitating supervised psychotherapy group sessions with client consents., clinical supervision will be provided from an experienced Certified Nurse Psychotherapist CNP or Registered Psychotherapist RP. Clinical Supervision and support will be provided throughout the program and after the nurse completes the program.
Upon successful completion of the RN Psychotherapy program, the RN Psychotherapy Certification will be awarded. Nurses taking this course also qualify for the Certified Nurse Psychotherapist (CNP) certification competency exam provided by the Canadian Nurse Psychotherapist Association.
