Clinical supervision is an important component of increasing practice skills for Certified Nurse Psychotherapist CNP/CPN and the Certified Nurse Psychotherapist (Qualifying)CNP(Q). It allows the Certified Nurse Psychotherapist CNP/CPN or the CNP(Q) to refine clinical skills and judgement when providing counselling and psychotherapy to the public. It ensure that the CNP/CPN, CNP(Qualifying) are practicing ethically, and implementing safe and effective use of self (SEUS) when providing counselling and psychotherapy treatment in any clinical settings.
Clinical Supervision is a collaborative process where the Supervision offers ongoing feedback from someone with more skills and experience providing counselling and psychotherapy. Rather than relying on vague principles from a textbook, classroom or videos, you’ll get rapid feedback on real-world therapy dilemmas. Your supervisor can provide insight into your personal style and guidance on how to sharpen your skills as well as how to adapt your style to the complex needs of diverse clients.
Certified Nurse Psychotherapist (Qualifying ) or CNP(Q) and CNP/CPN have an ethical duty to protect their clients’ best interests and provide quality therapy. Clinical supervision allows you to learn by doing, without risking harm to your clients and provide a better outcome and confidence to the Certified Nurse Psychotherapist CNP/CPN and CNP(Qualifying)
In clinical supervision, we work collaboratively with all experience levels, to assess your strengths, areas for learning, establish new goals together and track your progress over time. We will also have the opportunity to problem-solve specific cases, ethical issues that arise, and discuss strategies for building and maintaining a successful private practice.
